When pursuing treatment and rehabilitation for old injuries, managing chronic conditions, or seeking preventative care, prospective patients often form their first impressions of physical therapy centers online, long before stepping through its doors. In this sense, the rehabilitation industry faces a unique challenge when advertising its services. Companies must find ways to communicate their offerings to potential clients, building trust and forming a strong reputation, without having a tangible product that can demonstrate their results. Ebb & Flow Rehabilitation is one company within this sector that sought out Voice Z Digital to revitalize their photo and video content, with the end goal of creating an intentional visual story across their platforms that communicates their credibility.

Get to Know Ebb & Flow

Ebb & Flow Rehabilitation is a small business located in Portsmouth, NH. Their primary services include manual lymphatic drainage, dry needling, breath retraining, and corrective exercise. At the core of their services, they seek to provide an integrative approach to healing and physical therapy. Their position as a holistic physical therapy provider sets them apart. Rather than focusing exclusively on isolated symptoms, Ebb & Flow treats the whole body, creating a comprehensive rehabilitation experience and improving their clients’ quality of life. Their main platform is their website, highlighting their owner, her credentials and background, and services that are provided.

The Need for a Refresh

Though the company maintains a cohesive and beautiful website, many images lack direct connections to the topics they accompany. With many clients finding their way to Ebb & Flow through their website, it was important to create high-quality photo and video content that accurately represents their services and provides clear visual on what to expect when booking. Irrelevant imagery can create a disconnect for potential clients when navigating websites, so ensuring images are related to their associated topics helps create a seamless experience.  This can provide potential clients with more trust in the services, making the site feel higher quality and differentiate it from its competitors. Additionally, capturing this new content can open doors for social media accounts to be added to their marketing strategy later on.

Planning the Shoot

After our onboarding meeting with our client, the Voice Z team began the process of brainstorming. We wanted to carry over the calming, nature-focused imagery that the company already established while tying in elements that were unique to Ebb & Flow. These elements would combine to create a sense of authenticity from our client, demonstrating the core values the company was based on. Then, we compiled a board of reference photos grouped by shot type and created a shot sheet to guide our photography and videography when we were on location. We aimed to collect a variety of angles, locations, and movements to ensure our client had a wide range of photos and videos at the end of our services.

Behind the Scenes

The day of the shoot, our crew met with the owner of Ebb & Flow, Angelica, and outlined our schedule for the afternoon. Our team hoped to gather content in the studio and in the outdoor garden space to highlight a balance of Angelica’s professionalism and personality. The photo team captured headshots and client interactions, while the video team focused on getting footage of the practice and Angelica at work. Action shots were captured organically, with Angelica working with her clients as she would in a typical session. This approach allowed us to document the practice’s treatment methods and patient-centered environment while maintaining the authenticity central to Ebb & Flow’s brand.

Putting It All Together

After gathering the necessary footage, the team reconvened to begin the editing process. All photos needed to be sorted through and edited to ensure the best images were delivered. Video footage needed to be formatted for horizontal and vertical screens to fit a variety of platforms, then cropped and color corrected. Having this variety of video and photo types allows the company to insert the footage across a range of platforms. Ebb & Flow previously mentioned an interest in exploring social media platforms in the future, so ensuring vertical video content was captured was essential for possible TikTok and Instagram Reels creations. The captured headshots as well served a dual purpose. These photos could be included in the "About" section of the Ebb & Flow website but can also serve as profile photos for LinkedIn to create a consistent brand image. This multifaceted approach extended the practical value of the content package beyond its immediate applications. After roughly two weeks of careful selections and adjustments, files could be compiled to be sent off to Angelica.

Conclusion

With a comprehensive library of photo and video content now available to Ebb & Flow, the company now has the resources to strengthen its digital presence while maintaining the authenticity at the heart of its brand. By capturing the people, services, and environment that make up the practice, Voice Z Digital helped translate Ebb & Flow’s holistic philosophy into a cohesive visual identity. Intentional content creation is far more than making a website beautiful, it can also help service-based businesses communicate their value and create meaningful connections with prospective clients.
